Does Sunblock Give Complete Sun Protection?
Many people believe that applying sunblock means complete safety from the sun — but that’s not entirely true.
Sunblock Helps, But It’s Not Perfect
Sunblock significantly reduces sun damage by blocking harmful UV rays, especially UVA and UVB. However, no sunblock can block 100% of UV radiation — not even SPF 100.
Why You Still Need Extra Protection
Even with the best sunblock, some UV rays can still penetrate and cause aging, pigmentation, or even skin cancer. Sweating, swimming, and incorrect application also reduce its effectiveness.
How to Maximize Protection
- Use a broad-spectrum sunblock with at least SPF 30.
- Apply 15–20 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every 2 hours.
- Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
- Avoid peak sun hours (10am–4pm).
At Boston Aesthetics, Lahore, we educate our patients on complete sun safety — because sunblock is only one part of the protection plan.
