How to Become a Dermatologist in Pakistan

Step 1: Complete your undergraduate education
The first step is to complete your undergraduate education FSc. Pre Medical examination & then clear your MDCAT (Medical College Admission Test)
Step 2: Apply to medical college
Once you have completed your undergraduate education & MDCAT, you can apply to medical school. Medical school in Pakistan typically takes 5 years to complete MBBS. During this time, you will learn about the human body and how to diagnose and treat diseases.
Step 3: Complete your house job
After medical school, you will need to complete a housejob. This is a one-year program where you will gain practical experience in diagnosing and treating patients.
Step 4: Complete your residency/ dermatology training
The next step is to complete your residency/ dermatology training. There are 2 year or 5-year programs (MSc, MCPS, MD, FCPS) where you will specialize in dermatology. During your residency, you will learn about the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases, hair loss, and nail problems.
Step 5: Pass the dermatology exam (FCPS, MD, MCPS, MSc Dermatology)
After completing your residency of 2-5 years, you will need to pass the final dermatology exam. This is a national exam that tests your knowledge of dermatology.
Step 6: Get licensed
Once you have passed the FCPS, MD, MCPS,MSc. Dermatology exam, you will need to get licensed to practice medicine in Pakistan. You can do this by applying to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
